Toshita Khatry

Associate
  • Toshita Khatry is an Associate Attorney at Slater Slater Schulman, advocating for survivors of childhood sexual abuse that occurred within foster care settings in Maryland.

Toshita is a compassionate and approachable advocate who understands that legal matters often arise during some of the most difficult and pivotal moments in a person’s life. She takes an individualized approach to representation, beginning with active listening and taking the time to understand each client’s unique story and circumstances. Through clear communication, patience, and straightforward legal guidance, she works to ensure her clients feel entirely supported throughout the legal process.

Prior to joining the firm, Toshita served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Baltimore City, primarily handling juvenile criminal matters. She represented the State through all stages of litigation, appearing in trials, contested hearings, and motion arguments, while negotiating resolutions and working directly with victims and witnesses. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Law Clerk at a personal injury firm in Towson, Maryland, handling personal injury and family law matters and assisting with discovery and case preparation. In October 2025, she participated in the Maryland State’s Attorneys Association Trial Advocacy Program, focused on oral advocacy and simulated courtroom scenarios.

A third-generation lawyer, Toshita considers her legal career part of a deeply personal family legacy. After beginning her legal career in Nepal, she continued in the United States and is proud to carry on that tradition while building her own path as an attorney. Passing the Maryland Bar and earning licensure in the United States are among the professional milestones she is most proud of. Her transition from prosecution to civil litigation allows her to continue advocating for vulnerable individuals.

Raised with a deep passion for animal welfare, Toshita spent years feeding and caring for homeless dogs in her community in Nepal. The experience shaped her belief that giving back starts with recognizing needs and taking action. She carries that commitment to service into both her community involvement and professional work.

Toshita earned her B.A. and L.L.B. from Tribhuvan University in Nepal and her L.L.M. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. She joined Slater Slater Schulman in August 2026, drawn to the firm’s commitment to advocating for individuals who have suffered significant harm at the hands of the people and institutions responsible for protecting them. Toshita is licensed to practice in Maryland state courts.
