Heather Elaine Miller is an Associate Attorney in Slater Slater Schulman’s California office.
In representing survivors of childhood and adult sexual abuse, Heather brings a thoughtful, analytical, and client-centered approach to each case. Known for her professionalism, integrity, and trauma-informed representation, she facilitates a supportive environment where clients feel understood. She respects each client by communicating clearly and consistently, ensuring they understand the legal process while feeling seen as individuals.
Prior to joining the firm, Heather served as a Deputy District Attorney, where she prosecuted cases involving domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, battery, and drug and alcohol-related offenses. Through this work, she developed high-volume courtroom experience, including trial advocacy and oral argument, as well as strong negotiation skills.
A certified mediator, Heather has valuable clinical experience in assisting individuals in mediation settlements and serving as a court mediator. Her clinical experience also includes assisting individuals with domestic violence restraining orders and navigating the court system as self-represented plaintiffs. Heather currently volunteers as a judge for local high school mock trial competitions and served on the Board of Trustees for her local law library.
Heather is active in the legal community through the California Lawyers Association, California Women Lawyers Association, the California District Attorneys Association, and local bar associations.
Heather earned both her M.D. in Legal Studies and her J.D. from Monterey College of Law where she graduated with honors as valedictorian, receiving the Westlaw Academic Achievement Award for top placement in her class and recognition as a Heisler Moot Court Finalist. Heather has been a valued member of Slater Slater Schulman since 2026 and is licensed to practice law in California state courts.
