Hanna H. Shoshany

Associate
  • Hanna H. Shoshany is an Associate Attorney at Slater Slater Schulman, where she focuses on Child Victims Act matters and advocates for survivors of sexual abuse. She brings a diverse litigation background—including experience in criminal defense, Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) litigation, and mass tort matters—to her advocacy for survivors and clients.

Known for her compassionate, diligent, and analytical approach, Hanna places a strong emphasis on building trust with her clients. She believes that relatability is essential to a positive attorney-client relationship and makes an effort to find common ground with each client. By establishing that connection early in the representation, she creates an environment where clients feel comfortable communicating openly throughout the legal process, helping to achieve successful results.

Prior to joining the firm, Hanna spent her first five years of practice primarily focused on criminal defense within the five boroughs and across New York State.  Hanna handled numerous hearings and trials, ranging from misdemeanors to serious felony offenses in several counties across the state as well as in Federal District Courts, gaining extensive courtroom experience in complex and challenging matters. Hanna later transitioned to civil litigation, focusing primarily on mass tort and FELA matters, where she advocated for railroad employees exposed to harmful particles linked to serious illnesses and death. She has also represented clients in matters under the Adult Survivors Act (ASA) and General Municipal Law § 214-j, further expanding her experience in complex litigation involving survivors of abuse. She also worked as an associate attorney on the nationally recognized case People v. Angelika Graswald—a high-profile Orange County, New York criminal case involving the drowning death of a woman’s fiancé during a kayaking trip on the Hudson River.

Hanna has been recognized as a Super Lawyer for more than six years and as a Top 40 Under 40 attorney. In addition to her legal practice, Hanna brings extensive experience in mock trial advocacy. During law school, she advanced to the top eight and top two in national criminal mock trial competitions, earning both Best Advocate and Best Closing awards. She has continued to share her experience by coaching and mentoring law school mock trial teams, helping several teams achieve top placements in nationally recognized competitions.

Outside of her legal practice, Hanna is involved with her local Chabad center and participates in community fundraising and service efforts. Her volunteer work has included fundraising for victims of the October 7th massacre, drafting wills for volunteer soldiers from her community who chose to serve during the war, and organizing food and clothing drives for underprivileged children and women and children who are victims of domestic violence.

Hanna received her B.A. in English, with a concentration in Writing and a minor in Philosophy, from CUNY College of Staten Island and her J.D. from Pace Law School in 2016. She is licensed to practice in New York state court and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts.

Hanna joined Slater Slater Schulman in August 2026. Her passion for advocating for survivors of sexual abuse, particularly through the Child Victims Act (CVA), led her to the firm; she was drawn to Slater Slater Schulman’s nationally recognized expertise in this area.
