Jaime DeFilippis

Associate
  • Jaime DeFilippis is an Associate Attorney at Slater Slater Schulman, with a focus on mass tort litigation and a background in immigration, family, and matrimonial law.

To Jaime, communication and respect are critical to a successful practice. She understands the sensitive nature of her client’s cases and the traumatic experiences they relive when filing a claim. By building trust from the beginning and listening to their stories, Jaime instills confidence in her clients as she guides them through the complexities of the legal process toward their goals.

Jaime has received several awards over her career, including the Family Law Courses Award and the Gold Level Public Service Certificate for completing 750 + hours of pro bono work. She received The Jonathan Roppolo Memorial Award in 2022 for her excellent advocacy efforts with children and families through the Hofstra Youth Advocacy Clinic. In this role, Jaime worked on behalf of at-risk youth who experienced trauma and sexual abuse, particularly excelling in legal research and examination tactics in family and immigration court.

Jaime is an active member of the Family Court Review. She worked pro bono for the 17A Guardianship Demonstrations Project–an initiative designed to improve the quality of representation provided to developmentally disabled or delayed children in Guardianship Proceedings under Section 17-A of the Surrogate’s Court Procedure Act. During law school, Jaime was also a member of the Moot Court Board and several other student organizations.

Jaime graduated with her B.A. in Political Science from the State University of New York at Albany and her J.D. from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. She joined the firm in November 2022 and is admitted to the New York State Bar.
