Gizem Gures is an Associate Attorney at Slater Slater Schulman advocating for survivors of child and adult sexual abuse and assault.

Gizem is a person-centered trial attorney focused on meeting the unique needs of her clients. By putting herself in her client’s shoes, Gizem builds a trusting working relationship with survivors where they feel empowered to share pertinent the details of past traumas. She works strategically, using her past experience as a defense attorney to anticipate defense tactics to stay one step ahead in litigation, and remains consistently available to her clients for support throughout the case.

Prior to joining the firm, Gizem served as a defense attorney representing billion-dollar insurance companies in diverse practice areas pertaining to high exposure personal injury and premises liability disputes. Thereafter, Gizem made the switch to plaintiff law and represented individuals in personal injury matters, such as auto, premises liability, and wrongful death. Additionally, Gizem served as a judicial extern in the San Francisco Superior Court, working on cases in the juvenile dependency division relating to child abuse and neglect proceedings. She also studied abroad at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, gaining experience in complex crimes, including genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the crime of aggression.

Gizen received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. She received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, attending as a James A. Emery, S.J. Merit Law Scholarship recipient and received the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Labor Law, awarded to students designated by the school as attaining the highest grade in the course. Gizem joined Slater Slater Schulman in March 2024 and is licensed to practice in California state courts.

Gizem is a Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA) member and fluent in Turkish. She’s a proud first-generation college graduate and attorney, immigrating from Turkey at ten. When not in the office, Gizem enjoys long walks with her golden retriever, playing tennis, and spending time with her family and friends.
