  • Shiddhartha Uddin is an Associate Attorney at Slater Slater Schulman, representing sexual abuse survivors involved in the landmark Boy Scouts of America bankruptcy litigation.

    Shiddhartha uses a strategic, client-centered approach to develop obtainable legal goals to meet his client’s needs. He remains cognizant of resurfacing trauma throughout the process, remaining efficient and informative while respecting survivors’ boundaries.

    Prior to joining the firm, Shiddhartha served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the New York City Law Department, representing police officers and the City of New York in state and federal 42 U.S.C. § 1983 actions. Shiddhartha was heavily involved throughout the litigation process, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, dispositions, and settlements. Throughout his time at the Department, he developed an eye toward dispositive motion practice and trial.

    While in law school, Shiddhartha was part of the Hofstra Trial Advocacy Association’s Interscholastic Trial Team and was a regional finalist in the Texas Young Lawyers Association’s National Trial Competition. He participated in his law school’s Criminal Justice Clinic, representing indigent clients in criminal court. Shiddhartha was also a member of the academic journal Family Court Review, where he served as its Managing Editor of Notes and Comments and supervised its staff of forty members. In 2021, the journal published his student Note, Loot the Children: The Need to Regulate Predatory Loot Box Mechanics in Video Games that Target Young Audiences, 59 Fam. Ct. Rev. 870 (2021). In 2022, Shiddhartha was awarded the Gold Level Public Service Certificate for completing more than 750 hours of pro bono work.

    Shiddhartha received his B.A. in Political Science from Hunter College and his J.D. from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. Shiddhartha joined Slater Slater Schulman in October 2023 and is licensed to practice in New York state courts.
