  • Daenara Burgess is an Associate Attorney at Slater Slater Schulman, advocating for survivors of child and adult sexual abuse.

    Daenara is a perceptive advocate who excels in adapting her practice to the unique needs of her clients. She uses a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to empower survivors while they find their voice. Through consistent support, Daenara ensures her clients are informed and confident about their case.

    Daenara is an active community volunteer who has worked pro bono for several organizations across California. Some include the International Institute of Los Angeles, working as a guardian ad litem for minors in Special Immigrant Juvenile Status Cases; the Bette and Wylie Aitken Family Protection Clinic, providing pro bono legal services to low-income, homeless, and undocumented survivors of intimate partner violence; and the Community Legal Aid Society, assisting U-Visa applicants who have been victims of violence or abuse in the United States.

    Prior to joining the firm, Daenara worked for over two years as an Associate representing clients in civil litigation for firms in Rancho Cucamonga and Orange California, litigating cases involving motor vehicle and truck accidents, premises liability, professional liability, and employment law.

    Daenara received her B.A. in Criminology, Law, and Society from the University of California, Irvine. She received her J.D. from Chapman University, Dale E. Fowler School of Law, where she was the recipient of the CALI Award for Advanced Family Protection Clinic for work with survivors of intimate family violence, the Clinical Legal Education Association Outstanding Clinic Student Award, and the Commitment to Service Award for community service focused on non-profit immigration cases for victims of violence in the United States. Additionally, Daenara served as the President of the Immigration Law Society and Vice President of the Black Law Student Association and assisted in the creation of numerous diversity initiatives still in place today.

    Daenara officially joined Slater Slater Schulman in March 2024 and is licensed to practice in California state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
