What is NuvaRing?

NuvaRing is a popular contraceptive device in the United States. It is a prescription-only contraceptive vaginal ring manufactured by Merck (formerly Schering-Plough) that contains a combination of desogestrel and estrogen homones. It was approved for use in the United States in 2002 and is used by approximately 1.5 million women worldwide today. It is alleged that NuvaRing has caused numerous serious and potentially life-altering side effects.

The Adverse Effects of NuvaRing

Side effects that may be a result of NuvaRing use include increased risk of:

  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Blood clots
  • Venous thrombosis
