The Hurst Fire ignited on January 7, 2025, near the I-210 Foothill Freeway and Yarnell Street in Sylmar, Los Angeles County. The blaze rapidly expanded, consuming approximately 771 acres. Prompt evacuation orders were issued for residents north of the 210 Freeway from Roxford to the I-5/14 Freeway split. As of January 14, the fire is 95% contained, with all evacuation orders lifted, allowing residents to return home. The cause of the Hurst Fire remains under investigation. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest that a damaged power line of Southern California Edison may have been involved.
