Steven L. Alter is a Partner at Slater Slater Schulman LLP with nearly 30 years of legal experience. Fiercely representing clients throughout New York in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice law, and September 11th claims, Steven has dedicated his career to ensuring his clients receive the quality representation they deserve in every case.
Steven highly values the practice of empowering others through education and support. Knowing the legal process can be overwhelming, Steven’s first priority is to ensure that his clients understand their rights and the possible outcome of their case. His candid and straightforward approach inspires confidence in his ability to successfully represent his client’s best interests and hope in obtaining the justice or closure they desire.
Possessing an extensive background in medical malpractice and personal injury law, Steven frequently represents matters related to nursing home abuse and neglect, childhood sexual abuse, products liability, and construction accidents. He also represents individuals who have been adversely affected by the tragic attacks on September 11th. By assisting first responders and survivors in filing claims through the Victim Compensation Fund, Steven secures the financial stability these individuals need to focus on their long journey towards recovery.
Steven has litigated a wide variety of cases in both the private and public sectors. He was admitted to the Bar in 1991 and practices law in New York State and the United States District Courts of Southern and Eastern New York. Outside of the firm, Steven is a proud member of the New York State Bar Association.
Steven graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Union College in 1987 before graduating with his J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 1991. He proudly joined the Slater Slater Schulman team in 2009.
