Darshan Patel is a Senior Associate at Slater Slater Schulman, focusing on complex civil rights litigation involving the Adult Survivors Act and Child Victims Act. With over 25 years of combined practice as a civil litigator and former prosecutor, Darshan has significant experience in medical malpractice defense, federal civil rights violations, and other areas of law.
Darshan is a passionate advocate who works closely with his clients to obtain clarity on their most significant concerns. His commitment to giving clients a persuasive voice and strong law knowledge has won him several jury trials and summary judgments over his career. Recently, Darshan obtained a notable summary judgment dismissal on behalf of a physician-client in a medical malpractice case involving profound developmental delays and encephalopathy in a newborn.
Prior to Slater Slater Schulman, Darshan was a Partner at a premier law firm in New York City for over 21 years representing hospitals and physicians in medical liability actions. Darshan also served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Suffolk County District’s Attorney Office for 4 years, trying felony cases in Office’s Major Crime and Narcotics division. In 2010, Darshan co-authored the client article, Caring for the Chart.
Darshan received his B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his J.D. from Fordham University of Law, where he was a staff member of the Fordham International Law Journal. Darshan joined the Slater Slater Schulman team in March 2023 and is licensed to practice in New York State and the United States District Courts of the Southern and Eastern Districts.
