  • Avery Potts is an Associate Attorney at Slater Slater Schulman, representing survivors of sexual abuse in Maryland.

    Avery is known for her thoughtful and compassionate advocacy. She prioritizes clear communication and trust-building, ensuring that her clients feel consistently supported. Her intentional, trauma-informed techniques reflect her commitment to helping survivors navigate the legal process with dignity and care.

    Prior to joining Slater Slater Schulman, Avery gained experience in criminal defense, sharpening her litigation and client advocacy skills. She began her legal career as a judicial clerk for the Baltimore City Circuit Court, followed by two years as a Public Defender in Baltimore City, where she passionately defended clients facing criminal charges.

    Avery holds a B.A. in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland and earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where was awarded the Ward Kershaw Clinical Advocacy Prize for her work in the Criminal Defense Clinic, contributing key sections to a written motion for compassionate release of a client serving a life sentence during the pandemic.

    Avery has been a proud member of the Slater Slater Schulman team since July 2025 and is licensed to practice in Maryland state courts.
