Meet Sara Cate Ruff

Associate

Sara Cate Ruff is an Associate Attorney at Slater Slater Schulman. Sara represents women who suffered sexual abuse while formerly incarcerated in the New York penitentiary system.

Sara is a compassionate advocate who centers her practice on fostering trust with her clients and empowering them through the challenges of the legal system. She understands the long-term impacts affecting sexual abuse survivors and meets them in this space with empathy and excellent legal representation.

Sara previously interned for the Brooklyn Defender Services- Family Defense Practice, where she conducted client interviews and coordinated services to address issues raised in Family Court. Thereafter, Sara worked as a Legal Clerk/Associate Attorney for a law firm in New York City on matters relating to medical malpractice and the Child Victims Act.

Outside of the firm, Sara is a member of the ASPCA and a former volunteer with Court Watch NYC.

Sara received her B.A. in Journalism & Integrated Media from Biola University and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School—where she was a member of the International Law Journal, an Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Fellow, and a Dean’s Merit Scholar recipient. She joined Slater Slater Schulman in March 2023 and is licensed to practice in New York state courts.
